The Problem

Does Research Methods Feel Like the Hardest Part of Psychology?

You're not alone — and it doesn't mean you're bad at Psychology. Research Methods asks you to think in a different way to the rest of the course, and that takes the right kind of practice.

01 Choosing the correct statistical test
02 Understanding significance and probability
03 Remembering experimental designs
04 Identifying variables
05 Reliability and validity
06 Type I and Type II errors
07 Interpreting tables and statistical results
08 Applying knowledge to unfamiliar scenarios
Research Methods becomes much easier when you understand the logic behind it.
My Teaching Approach

Understand It. Apply It. Remember It.

Every lesson follows the same process — because understanding beats memorising every time.

1

Understand

Difficult concepts explained in simple, everyday language.

2

Apply

Real psychological research scenarios and examples.

3

Practise

Working through exam-style questions together.

4

Improve

Identifying mistakes and learning exactly how to gain more marks.

Statistical Tests Without the Confusion

Memorising a decision tree only gets you so far. Once you understand how these three questions determine the right test, you'll be able to work it out in any exam scenario — familiar or not.

QUESTION 1

Difference or correlation?

Are you comparing groups/conditions, or looking at a relationship between two variables?

QUESTION 2

Related or unrelated data?

Same participants in every condition (related), or different participants (unrelated)?

QUESTION 3

What level of measurement?

Nominal, ordinal, or interval/ratio data?

Try it yourself

Answer the three questions and see which test fits — this is the exact logic we use in lessons.

Deepshika is a great tutor who has helped my daughter build her confidence in answering questions and gaining a better understanding in different topics in the Psychology specification. Deepshika explains complex concepts in a clear and engaging way, making them much easier to grasp. Deepshika’s support has also improved my daughter’s exam technique, particularly in structuring answers and applying knowledge effectively. I feel my daughter is much more prepared and motivated in Psychology thanks to Deepshika’s guidance and I would highly recommend her to other students.

About Deepshikha

A-Level Psychology Tutor · Research Methods & Statistics

Hi, I'm Dr Deepshikha Paliwal.

I have a PhD in Psychology from IIT Roorkee, with a strong academic background in psychological research, Research Methods and Statistics.

My Teaching Approach

How I Teach

My lessons are highly visual and example-based. I use clear, structured presentations to break difficult topics into smaller, manageable steps — because I want students to understand what a concept actually means, not just memorise a definition.

Simple everyday examples Psychological research scenarios Practical examples Exam-style situations

Once a student understands the basic idea, I gradually introduce the correct psychological and statistical terminology, and show them how to apply it to real A-Level Psychology questions.

Understand the concept first. Then learn how to apply it.
1

See It

Visual presentations. Clear, structured slides make difficult concepts easier to follow.

2

Understand It

Simple explanations & examples. We break concepts down so students understand what they actually mean.

3

Apply It

Psychology research scenarios. We apply the concept to different examples so it's recognisable in unfamiliar situations.

4

Practise It

Exam-style questions. We practise applying that understanding to A-Level Psychology questions.

Very good at explaining concepts clearly so anyone can understand and very efficient in the way that she teaches so you can cover a lot in every lesson. Would definitely recommend!
